Effective educational advising is the cornerstone of any academic program and requires a dedicated staff of advisors, committed to ensuring students are provided appropriate guidance and answers that enable students to make informed decisions throughout the academic year.

The role of the Trident University International (Trident) Strategic Military & Community Relations Regional Manager (SMCRM) is to act as a conduit between the university and prospective/current student population(s) and to facilitate processes to further assist students in achieving their academic goals.

SMCRM serves as the point of contact for Education Service Offices, Trident Students and Alumni, as well as other key constituents within designated regions. The SMCRM will be the face of Trident across the United States and will provide professional, supportive and dependable service to education offices and prospective/current students as well as anytime, anywhere, educational opportunities to service members, veterans, their families, as well as DOD, Federal, State, organization partners and Local Government employees. The SMCRM will also provide competent, efficient and productive service to Trident.

Job Requirements:

Position Responsibilities
Represent the university with the utmost professionalism, establishing and fostering positive professional relationships with base education offices, key decision makers and leaders, and current and prospective students in designated region, including those within the Department of Defense, Veterans Administration, individual service branches, organization partners, state and local government.
Understand the university’s policies/guidance as it relates to safeguarding of student privacy and educational records consistent with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

In compliance with applicable rules and regulations, coordinate with Installation Education Services Officer (ESO) or duly appointed authority to establish recurring visits/meetings on campuses/installations to ensure student populations are afforded the opportunity to discuss/address academic items/issues of interest (in person or in group(s).

Afford students the opportunity to meet with the respective SMCRM to discuss/address academic items/issues of interest.

Disseminate university guidance and provide sound rationale for institutional policies, procedures and associated requirements as directly related to impacting student populations.

Maintain an up-to-date “Advising Portfolio” with the most relevant student-centered information. Consult regularly with TUI faculty, admissions, and advising personnel to ensure continuity and currency of information related to admissions/enrollment requirements, new programs, course changes, important dates and timelines/deadlines.

Inform and, as necessary, refer students to other university specialized staff, department/resources when academic, or other sensitive student issues arise that require involvement/intervention by other departments (e.g., Student Services, Finance, Academics, Registrar, etc…).

Expertise in project planning and goal setting
Ability to plan, organize, coach, set objectives, meet deadlines, work independently, think creatively to reach new students, manage multiple projects, and determine project urgency
Possess an understanding of military population and familiarity with Distance Learning (on –line) and Adult Education
Ability to be hands-on, decisive and confident; yet can be immersed in the details while not losing sight of the big picture
Ability to work with a sense of urgency
Ability to be committed to the university’s mission and passionate about education
Possess an understanding of military community and voluntary education
Master’s degree.
Minimum of five years of experience working with corporate, government and/or military outreach, higher education partnerships.
Veteran of the US Armed Forces
