Production Supervisor - Food Packaging/Manufacturing

The Production Supervisor will plan, direct, coordinate and control activities of workers engaged in the assembly line/machine process.
Actively enforce safety rules – be alert for behaviors or conditions that are considered unsafe and immediately initiate corrective actions – model safe work practices
Work in conjunction with the Quality Department to ensure production meets customer standards and complies with all GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)
Meet production standards and expectations: Meeting or Exceeding expected shift production rates. General Understanding of the financial tie-in of production to the P&L (Labor, Material, and Indirect Cost) Optimizing up-time by eliminating downtime. Keep damages to a minimum.
Perform systemic hourly checks during shift to maintain production throughputs using standard metrics, lean principle and re-balancing of production lines.
Assist the Line Leads, Operators and Placarders: Start-of-shift procedures and end-of-shift procedures including production reconciliation.
Lead line balancing activity using lean waste elimination techniques, bottle neck identification, and cycle time analysis throughout the shift.
Troubleshoot manpower requirements by properly placing employees to meet changing conditions. Ability to conduct root-cause analysis and provide a recommendation for production line improvement.
Troubleshoot production related issues and provide written corrective action on how to mitigate and resolve.
Mentor, coach, and develop all production related personnel: Production placarders, Production Line Leaders, Production Forklift Operators, and General Labor Personnel
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Associate’s Degree or Trade/Technical School Certification preferred
Two (2) years minimum of leadership experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing plant is preferred
Strong supervisory and management skills
Strong knowledge of plant and manufacturing operations required. Experience with cartoning, bagging, heat tunnels, and case sealers.
Ability to acquire working knowledge of facility operation reporting systems.
Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities
Excellent organization and time management skills
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Organized, detail oriented and able to multi-task
Knowledge of warehouse / production management systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office - Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook
Work is performed primarily in a fast-paced environment
Required to frequently stand or walk for extended periods across designated facility.
Must be flexible and available to work outside of designated shift hours and/or weekend hours when necessary
Some overtime may be required
