Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of School Services works to improve the quality of instruction for students enrolled in the Melvin J. Larson Educational Center by providing an atmosphere conducive to learning and which promotes the well-being of each child. The Speech/Language Pathologist will develop, implement, and evaluate student goals in the area of communication and oral motor skills to insure student progress. The Speech/Language Pathologist will build upon the existing strengths of the students toward the fulfillment of their potential for communication, oral motor skills, and the utilization of assistive communication devices.

Job Requirements:

A. Education/Certification
1. State of Illinois Certification as Speech/Language Pathologist
2. Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology

B. Experience
1. Prior experience with children with developmental disabilities preferred
2. ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) or eligible for Clinical Fellowship Year

C. Skills/Knowledge
1. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting
2. Must be able to establish effective verbal and written communication skills with a variety
of stakeholders
3. Knowledge of oral motor feeding skill development
4. Knowledge of Assistive communication devices and resources
5. Demonstrated capabilities in leadership
6. Knowledge of Data collection
